NLL soccer tournament to air on EUP Sports Network

The 2023 Northern Lights League soccer postseason tournament will be broadcasted on the new EUP Sports Network, a social media broadcast company owned by The Newberry News. Every game of the seven-team, single-elimination tournament will be broadcasted on EUP’s YouTube and Facebook pages on Saturday, Oct. 14. Local teams of Munising Baptist, Grand Marais and Big Bay de Noc will be competing for the title.

The experience will mean that it will be the third consecutive year the tournament will be broadcasted in its entirety and the fourth year the championship game will hit the airwaves. Munising Beacon Editor Brice Burge will be on the play-by-play call.

“The NLL soccer tournament has always been a great event to broadcast because of what it means for the communities involved. Not only are we promoting hometown pride, but we also get to advance the idea of technology and communications media in an educationally friendly way,” Burge said. “With this year shaping up to be one of the deepest tournaments in league history, we’re excited to interact with fans on live streams and seeing photos of the watch parties enjoying the games on smart televisions.”

Advertising is available for those looking to support a specific team or the tournament as a whole. Half of all advertising revenue will be split with Burt Township Schools to support their student broadcasting efforts assisting with the broadcasts and host school Big Bay de Noc.
