Munising begins title defense The Munising Mustangs boys basketball team started off their MHSAA Division 4 boys basketball season on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at home against Norway. The results of that game was after deadline of this week’s edition and the story is available on The Munising Beacon Facebook page. The Mustangs host Manistique tonight.

Mustangs, Cougars start season

The Munising Mustangs girls basketball team will start off their 2023-24 season with a bang, as they travel to Alger County rival Superior Central on Wednesday, Dec. 6. SC will have a slight edge on the ‘Stangs though, as the Cougars started their season on Nov. 30 against CUP rival Hannahville.

GM, Baptist face BBdN to start NLL season Both the Grand Marais Polar Bears and the Munising Baptist Bobcats will face off against the Big Bay de Noc Black Bears to start their respective Northern Lights League seasons. Grand Marais will host Big Bay on Dec. 7 while the Bobcats will travel south on Dec. 5.

Wrestlers start off on the road The Munising wrestling team, which includes student athletes from Superior Central, is one of the largest teams in years and bringing high hopes for the season. They start the 202324 campaign with a tri meet in Manistique with Kingsford.

NMU To Continue Playing Basketball Games At PEIF Due to unforeseen circumstances with water damage to the basketball game floor used in the Berry, all men’s and women’s basketball games will be played in the PEIF practice gym until further notice. If you already have tickets, your tickets are still valid for the games.
