On Wednesday, Dec. 13, Munising and Superior Central will once again combine for the Toys For Tots drive at a pre-holiday basketball game. This is the second year of the event, held in memory of SC student Neo John Paul Wilson, but this year’s game will be a boys contest held in Munising instead of a girls game at SC. Nonwrapped items can be brought to the game or dropped off at SC Schools starting Monday.

Cheer opens season Saturday The Munising Mustang competitive cheer team will start its varsity season Saturday, Dec. 9 at the CCCAM Scholarship Invitational in Munising. Teams will start at 10 a.m. and is the first of three home meets for the Mustangs.

Hot start for SC The Superior Central Cougars boys basketball team is off to its best start since 2010-11, as the team has won its first three games of the season. After winning just six games all last year, the Cougars defeated Engadine on the road and then both Hannahville and Carney-Nadeau at home last week. Favorable matchups against Republic-Michigamme and Mid Pen this week were played after deadline of this week’s edition.

Pictured Rocks Road Race registration live Registration for the annual Pictured Rocks Road Race is live for the 2024 edition of one of the U.P.’s most challenging and prestigious road races. The half-marathon and 10k race will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Munising with proceeds benefiting the Munising Bay Trail Network.

U.P. ski resort named top in USA Mount Bohemia ski resort was named the top resort in America in the USA Today’s 10 Best Reader’s Choice contest. The resort based in the Keweenaw Peninsula beat out many larger resorts in California, Colorado and New York.
