A balanced scoring effort. A stingy defense. A lopsided victory. The sixth ranked Munising boys basketball team had all three of those on Tuesday, Jan. 30 when they took down visiting Bark River-Harris, 64-17.
“We had good balanced scoring,” head coach Terry Kienitz said. “Our defense was really good, holding them to 17 points. We took care of the ball and limited our turnovers. We also rebounded really good on both sides of the glass.”
The Mustangs had all the points they needed in the first quarter. Jack Dusseault poured in 10 points and Carson Kienitz and Trevor Nolan both hit two threes, and they held a commanding 26-5 lead after just the first eight minutes of play.
Two more threes by T. Nolan in the second helped turn that into a 41-11 lead at the half and they also led 55-17 entering the fourth.
Dusseault led the Mustangs with 18 points, Kienitz was right behind with 17 points, T. Nolan scored 12, Tyler Nelson and Nolan Connaughton had six points each. Keegan Long netted four and adding one was Caiden Curtis.
Munising (13-3 overall) traveled to Escanaba on Tuesday, is at home to battle Powers North Central on Friday, heads down to Manistique on Monday and hosts Rapid River on Tuesday.
