The Superior Central girls basketball team closed out the regular season at Stephenson on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The Lady Cougars were unfortunately unable to get much going in the contest falling on a score of 53-17.
S-C managed just one field-goal in the first quarter, getting Rory Hancock to knock one down; as Stephenson took a 22-2 lead after one. Addi Frusti hit a three pointer in the second, but that accounted for all of their offense in that frame, as they fell further behind by the half, 35-5. Frusti and Marissa Strohm had five points each in the third and they faced a 41-15 deficit entering the fourth.
Frusti netted the team’s lone bucket in the fourth, as she finished with 10 points. Marissa Strohm scored five points and Hancock added two.
Stephenson was led by Adria Ruleau with 17 points and Mattie Prestin netted 11.
S-C (6-15 overall) played at Munising in a Division 4 district semi-final contest on Wednesday. Big Bay and Newberry played in the other semi-final, with the winners playing on Friday in the district championship at a location to be determined. The district winner moves on to a regional semi-final game on Tuesday, held at Brimley.
