The Superior Central baseball team said hello to the new season on Thursday, April 18. The Cougars played at home against Manistique, although they lost both ends of the double header, 4-2 and 12-2.
In the opener, Manistique pitcher Isaiah Brow proved to be tough to hit. He struck out 14 batters in the game and didn’t allow a hit until the sixth inning.
In that frame, Trent Rutter reached on an error and Bradley VanDamme followed with a single. Blake Walther followed that with a double, driving in their lone runs of the game.
In game two, S-C fell behind 3-0 after the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the first, Blake Walther had an RBI single that was part of their two run frame to pull within 3-2. However, they were unable to get anything else the rest of the game.
