The Superior Central softball team had a great opening week to the season. The Lady Cougars won all six of their games by mercy, including Friday sweep at Gwinn; 25-2 and 25-7. In game one, the Cougars were able to plate 13 runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, highlighted by Kiera McDonald hitting an inside the park home run.
In game two it was a 16 run third inning that did most of the damage.
On Thursday, April 18 they swept visiting Manistique by scores of 13-3 and 15-7.
In game one, Sammy Johnson tossed a complete game and gave up three runs on four hits, six strikeouts and two walks.
Alice Hancock highlighted the offense with three hits, three RBI and four runs.
In game two, a triple by Rory Hancock sparked a big sixth inning as the Cougars pulled away for the win.
The Cougars opened the season with a road sweep at Stephenson on Tuesday, April 16, 17-4 and 20-2.
S-C played at Rapid River on Tuesday April 23 and heads to Carney-Nadeau on Monday April 29.
