Munising softball claims split with Carney-Nadeau

After dropping a high-scoring 29-13 game in the opener, the Munising softball team was able to regroup in time for game two. The Lady Mustangs defeated visiting Carney-Nadeau in the night-cap, 5-3 on Tuesday, May 14.

The second game ended with an exciting moment; as the Mustangs turned a triple play. Brooklynn Joyner got the victory from the circle, giving up just three runs for her fourth win of the year. Joyner retired the first six batters she faced and nine of the first 11 as part of her brilliant performance.

In game one, Munising fell behind 10-0 early on, and while they managed to pull within 16-13, they went cold from there.

On Friday, Munising lost two home games to Norway, 16-0 and 15-0.

Athena Platt had their lone hit in game one. They were unable to get a hit in game two, as the opposing pitcher threw a three inning perfect game; striking out eight of the nine batters she faced.

Munising had home games with Crystal Falls Forest Park on Tuesday, was at home against Superior Central on Thursday and hosts a Division 4 district tournament on Friday, May 31.
