Superior Central baseball drops games to Norway, North Dickinson

The Superior Central baseball team made the trip to take on Norway on Tuesday, May 14. The Cougars lost both conference games however, 5-0 and 11-1.

Trent Rutter threw a complete game in game one, giving up five runs on four hits and three strikeouts. “Trent went up against a powerhouse of a Norway team and pitched a heck of a game, they didn’t get on base very often and when they did they made it count,” head coach Greg Mannisto said.

In game two, the Cougars fell behind early and were not able to recover as the contest played out. “Norway put this game away early with a big second inning,” Mannisto said. “In the second game Norway got nine hits and five walks, their bats came alive and this team doesn’t need many runs with the quality of pitching they threw out there.”

On Thursday, May 16 S-C also lost two road games at North Dickinson, 10-7 and 14-13.

Superior Central hosted Bark River-Harris on Tuesday and wraps up the regular season on Tuesday, May 28 in Escanaba.
