Munising tennis wraps up regular season

The Munising tennis team traveled to Ishpeming on Friday. The Mustangs and Hematites were originally scheduled to play a regular match, but shifted things up with host Ishpeming to focus on getting ready for the post-season.

“This match turned into a scrimmage, the other team had senior night,” head coach Corrine Hoffman said. “Good practice leading into this week [for the post-season].”

On Wednesday, May 22 the Mustangs were in Kingsford, where they lost the match 5-3.

Number two singles Levi Westcomb won his match 6-1 and 6-3. Number three singles Dimetri Balko also won 6-7, 6-2 and 6-1 and number four singles Jack Carlson was a winner, 3-6, 6-4 and 6-4.

Munising wrapped up its season on Wednesday in Iron Mountain for the U.P. Finals.

“Send the team luck their way,” Hoffman said. “It’s going to be some good tennis.”
