Superior Central outlasts Bark River to claim five set win

All five sets went back and forth. The final frame narrowly went in favor of visiting Superior Central, as they outlasted Bark River Harris on Thursday, September 19; 15-25, 2520, 25-17, 23-25 and 16-14.

“We played a very competitive match and brought home a 3-2 win,” head coach Kris Bray said.

The Lady Cougars had an impressive performance by freshman Kylie Stuer, who had 18 kills, four blocks, two aces and 20 digs. Kate McGee had seven kills, and she served well to get seven aces and she added three digs as well. Peyton Smith had five kills, three aces, two assists and 13 digs and Rory Hanock had five aces, one block, two assists and 12 digs. Ruth Johnson ran the setter spot well to get 22 assists, five kills, three aces and 12 digs, Josie Knaus had five assists, one ace and six digs and Marissa Strohm added one block, one assist and six digs.

On Tuesday, September 17 S-C played a road game with Powers North Central. They lost to the Lady Jets in four, 18-25, 25-18, 2514 and 25-22.

Stuer shined with 12 kills, four blocks, two aces, one assist and eight digs, Smith was good for six kills, one block, one ace and seven digs and Johnson was able to get three kills, one block, 18 assists, five aces and four digs. Hanock had nine digs, one ace and one assist, Strohm chipped in with three kills, one ace, two assists and seven digs and Kate McGee contributed two kills and one dig.

S-C played a home match with Norway on Tuesday, heads to Big Bay de Noc on Friday and returns home to face Carney-Nadeau on Tuesday, October 1.
