The Superior Central girls basketball team picked up its second victory of the season on Dec. 6. The Cougars, playing host to Rapid River, were able to control the game to take the win, 39-18.
A nice first quarter from Peyton Adams helped the Cougars get going. She hit a 3-pointer and had seven points in the frame, and SC led 13-7 after one. Sam Johnson, Adams and Stephanie Nordness hit field goals in the second, and they carried a 19-11 lead into the half.
That increased to a 28-13 advantage entering the fourth.
The Cougars were led by Adams with 17 points. Johnson scored nine, Nordness chipped in with seven, Addi Frusti scored four and Marissa Strohm added two.
Superior Central (2-0) played at Newberry on Tuesday, was at home with Forest Park on Thursday and will compete in the Carney-Nadeau Holiday Tournament on Dec. 27 and 28.
