Don’t worry, it’ll be back next year: Alger County Fair celebrated another run this weekend.

One of the many villages dotting Alger County, Chatham is a “blink and you’ll miss it” type stop for truckers and weary travelers ambling along the M-94 highway in search of a quick refuel. On Friday, traffic flowed into Chatham at a much higher rate, as the village fairgrounds hosted its annual Alger County Fair.

From Porch to Water:

Nick Bogater’s back porch, an unlikely shipyard, became a canvas for his dreams amidst the chaos of raising two young daughters with his wife, Johanna, working full-time as a Wastewater Treatment Operator, and managing the everyday responsibilities of homeownership. While replacing the front porch of his home, Nick realized that his back porch could be transformed into the perfect workshop if rebuilt to accommodate his vision—a not-yet-built boat.

Spencer Nebel, Newport City Manager Since 2013, Retires Following Four Decades Of City Management

City Manager and Munising native Spencer Nebel officially retired on July 8, following over 10 years serving the community in his role, and over 42 years of public service, leaving behind an everlasting legacy of positive impacts for the city’s present and future. As the City Manager, Nebel brought stability, consistency, transparency, and vision to the city organization and departments overseen by the city and the Newport residential and business communities.
