A rough night at the free-throw line isn’t how any coach wants to close out a game. The Munising girls basketball team and head coach Matt Mattson had to endure just that, however, when they shot 33 percent from the charity stripe on Dec.

It took a late rally in regulation to do it, but the Superior Central boys basketball team was able to get its first win of the season on Dec. 16. The Cougars, playing at Carney-Nadeau, escaped with an exciting 55-50 overtime victory.

The Superior Central girls basketball team went up against Crystal Falls Forest Park in a home game on Dec. 19. The Cougars played well defensively but weren’t able to find enough touch on offense, falling 37-22 as a result.

At long last, the Munising girls basketball team was able to open the season on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
