DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

The Munising High School girls basketball team captured a Division 4 district championship last Friday with a 62-23 home victory over Big Bay de Noc. In the semifinal game one night earlier, the Mustangs knocked off Rapid River, 78-16. Munising’s season, however, came to an end Monday night in Kingsford. In a regional semifinal, the Mustangs fell to Norway, 4541. Munising finishes with a 20-5 record and two trophies. In addition to the district title, the team also captured the Skyline Central Conference championship. See Page 10 for details.

Munising girls cruise

Entering its game at Rapid River on Feb. 20, the Munising girls basketball team had lost three of its previous four contests. The Mustangs got back on track in a big way in this contest, dominating the Rockets to claim a 63-13 victory.
