The Superior Central track and field teams concluded their seasons at the MHSAA U.P. Division 3 finals on Saturday, June 3 in Kingsford, with the boys team finishing 17th and the girls finishing 16th of the over 30 schools in the field. It was the first time since 2018 that both boys and girls teams scored points at the finals.

The 3200m run is nobody’s favorite event. It’s the longest event at a track meet, taking eight laps to complete the two miles of competition.

In the first time in over a decade, the Superior Central Cougars are MHSAA District softball champions, after beating Newberry 19-4 on Friday, June 2 in Rapid River. “It feels great.

The 2023 MHSAA all-District 100 was announced on Tuesday, June 6. Over half of the team came from district champions Superior Central in the team’s first district title in over ten years. All-district team members come from Superior Central, Munising, Rapid River and Newberry.

The Munising softball season came to an end at the MHSAA District 100 semifinals, losing 22-0 to eventual champions Superior Central. The Cougars jumped out ahead to an 11-0 start after the lineup batted around in the first inning.

It was another strong showing for the Munising Mustangs girls track and field team, as the Mustangs took fourth place at the MHSAA U.P. Division 3 Finals on Saturday, June 3 in Kingsford.

In a pitching duel, the Superior Central Cougars defeated the Bark River-Harris Broncos 1-0 at the Superior Central baseball field in Eben Junction on Tuesday, May 30. Two pitchers combined for the shutout, with Blake Walther getting the win and Trent Rutter getting the save for the Cougars.

Munising had a strong performance at the MHSAA U.P. Division 2 State Finals on Tuesday, May 30 in Westwood, finishing tied for third. Three Mustangs took individual state championships for winning their respective flights.
