A “Goodbye” and a “Hello Again”

On Easter Sunday, Eden said “Goodbye” to Pastor Tera Kossow. Pastor Tera accepted a call as Assistant to the Bishop of the Western North Dakota Synod of the ELCA. We feel very fortunate for the time Pastor Tera was with us and wish her all the best in her new call. While it was hard to say goodbye to Pastor Tera, Eden sent her off with the great Lutheran tradition of potluck.

Eden began April by saying “Hello again” to Pastor Lon Hider. Pastor Lon is a familiar face as he has worshiped and officiated worship at Eden. Pastor Lon will be the administrative interim pastor for Eden while we are in the call process for a new leader. Additionally, Pastor Lon plans to lead church services regularly. We greatly appreciate his guidance as we go through the call process.

While we are in the midst of change, the heart of Eden remains that same as we strive to show love for our neighbor.

The Feeding America mobile food bank is available at the Eden parking lot the first Wednesday of each month, Noon – 2:00 P.M. This is a drive thru event. Eden’s Free Store provides free paper and cleaning products, hygiene products and diapers. The Free Store is open the third Thursday of each month from 1:00 P.M. 3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. The only information the store requests is the number of people in the family and if there is a Veteran in the home.

Eden has a ‘Feed the Pig’ fundraiser every quarter of the year. The money collected alternates each quarter between supporting the community and helping to offset expenses for special events or purchases at the church. The first quarter funds were donated to the Get Away Drop-In Center. This quarter the funds will be used to purchase fish for our annual fish fry and supplies for our annual 4th of July bonfire and fireworks watching. Eden invites everyone to join us in our side yard for a bonfire and to enjoy the Munising Fireworks show at one of the best viewing sites on the west side of town.

We’d love for you to join us for worship. Services are Saturdays at 5:00 P.M. and Sunday mornings at 10:30 A.M. Dress is casual and coffee and snacks are served after Sunday service. We hope to see you there.
