Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore has been named one of the top camping destinations by one of the most well known camping apps in North America.
The 2023 Best Places To Camp lists from The Dyrt was released in May, containing the most highly rated, celebrated and sought-after camping locales in the region. The Dyrt is the top-rated and downloaded camping application through both the Google Play and Apple stores combined, with the list compiled from user comments and ratings.
“According to our 2023 Camping Report, more Americans are camping now than at any other time in history,” says Sarah Smith, founder of The Dyrt in a press release. “The number of reviews, photos and tips from The Dyrt’s community of campers doubled in the past year to 8 million, creating the most well-rounded picture of the 50,000 campgrounds, resorts and dispersed camping areas in the country. There are so many great options, but these are the best of the best in the Midwest Region.”
In the official breakdown of the lakeshore, Dyrt described PRNL as a varied landscape with lots of wildlife and opportunities.
“Forests, dunes, beaches, solitude, great views and inspiration are all connected by nearly 100 miles of trails at Pictured Rocks. The country’s first national lakeshore winds along the southern side of Lake Superior and is a prime spot no matter the season,” the website said.
PRNL was the only Michigan location on the list. Voyageurs National Park was the top ranked Midwest camping location.
