Exploring Architecture with KEVA Planks
Mather Elementary’s third grade students explored architecture with KEVA planks (a wooden construction toy) this year. Each third grade class used KEVA planks to explore construction of different structures throughout the school year. The students were excited to have the opportunity to build both in math class and during inside recess.

This year’s Munising Public Schools art show!
Every year Munising Public Schools holds an art show towards the end of the year to showcase the artwork completed throughout the school year by K-12 art students. This year the art show was held from May 14 through 16 in the Mather Elementary gym.

Andrew, son of Rebecca and Jason Cain, plans to pursue higher education after excelling in wrestling and football. Emersyn Crisp Emmy, daughter of Lesley and Bill Crisp, plans to attend Northern Michigan University for nursing.

Just as our bodies are influenced by frequencies from the sun, the earth that we walk on each day also provides unique energy and frequencies that can directly impact our bodies.

Memories in Bloom: Munising High School’s Special Mother-Daughter Tea
Mother-Daughter Tea was held on May 12 for the mothers of this year’s Munising High School seniors. The event was hosted by Key Club and was held at Munising’s Middle/High school cafeteria decorated with flowers and a floral banner for pictures. Eight pairs of mothers and daughters attended the event. To make this event special, Key Club provided drinks and food, a game of Who Knows Each Other Best, and speeches from a senior and her mother figure.

What is a Baccalaureate Service? A baccalaureate service is a ceremony to honor a graduating class within a couple of weeks before commencement. The baccalaureate is intended to provide a more intimate time of reflection for the graduating class and their families before the larger, more formal graduation ceremony. This time of reflection often includes music, a local speaker, and a small gift (like a book) for the graduates. The speaker at the baccalaureate honors the graduates and their families and encourages them to find spiritual meaning in the transition from high school into college or a career. The baccalaureate service also supplies an opportunity for the community to support the graduate and celebrate both his or her intellectual and spiritual development.

Munising Middle School students were offered incentives and fun if their score improved a significant amount. April is the typical testing time for grades K-11, and April can be very draining due to the hours and hours of state required testing.
