Local Munising student will represent Michigan: CONA Conference in North Carolina

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars” is a quote and a campaign slogan that represents Savannah Lassila. Lassila will be part of an elite group from Michigan who will attend the Conference on National Affairs (CONA) this summer from June 25 through July 5, 2024. Only 25 total students from Michigan are selected to attend the conference which involves at least 40 states. Lassila also ran for the position of youth governor and was the lieutenant governor this school year. The CONA experience is 10 days long and covers national issues in decision- making, whereas the Michigan Youth in Government conference is about five days and deals primarily with state issues.
