The construction of the new Soo Lock by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is proceeding as planned, with major construction activities set to continue in phases 2 and 3 during this season.

Seann Pietela, a 19-year-old resident of Pickford, Mich., has been charged in a criminal complaint for transmitting a communication that contained a threat to cause harm to another individual. According to the details outlined in the complaint, Pietela engaged in communication on Instagram with various individuals, where he allegedly expressed a neo-Nazi ideology, demonstrated antisemitism, glorified past mass shooters, and expressed a desire and intent to emulate their actions or carry out mass casualty events.
