Burt Township students learn about forestry

Students from Burt Township Schools had a first-hand experience of learning about harvesting timber and other aspects of the forestry business on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Workers from Grossman Forestry presented to the students about how the forestry industry works with various environmental factors and some of the heavy equipment needed to maintain the forests.

Gar Atchison, the current market president of UP Health System (UPHS) and CEO of UPHS – Marquette, will be resigning from his position at the end of November. The change means that the only local Trauma II center in the central Upper Peninsula and a local partner in med control for EMS runs will have new leadership.
