How does vitamin D help me get better?

Q: I recently went to Urgent Care with what turned out to be bronchitis. One of the doctor’s recommendations was to take a Vitamin D supplement; why? A: A recent study of patients with respiratory illnesses thought to be COVID-19 was large enough to determine that higher Vitamin D levels were associated with less severe symptoms and more rapid recovery from COVID-19.

Saturday 5th Annual Bottle Lit Snowshoe The Gateway loop at the Munising Bike Park will once again be lit up by decorated wine bottles strung in the trees along the trail. Glow sticks will be placed along the trail for the kiddos (see if they can find all of them). Join us for an enchanting snowshoe (conditions will be updated the day of the event). Snowshoes may or may not be required depending on depth of snow and trail conditions. 6:15 – 8:15 p.m. on January 27th.

Munising School Public Library News

We have tax forms! Yes, we still receive paper tax forms and instructions free for patrons to pick up here at the library. As of now, we only have the Federal forms, but the Michigan forms should be here soon. If there is a more specific tax form or schedule that you need, we are able to print via irs.gov or Michigan. gov/taxes for 15 cents per page.

EGLE makes nearly 18K radon test kits available to city and county health departments

Every year, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) makes radon test kits available to city and county health departments, tribal governments, and Michigan State University (MSU) extension offices. The kits test for the presence of deadly radon gas, found to be at elevated levels in one quarter of Michigan homes.

MEDC Replies to Marketplace

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, while having withdrawn some funding from the Munising Marketplace, would like to stress that they have not completely withdrawn all support. There was a sum of money that had yet to be allocated to the project which the MEDC had withdrawn due to certain items that were not provided under the time limit.

Fishing for a Cause

The second annual fishing derby will take place on Saturday March 2 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The derby is run by South Shore Fishing Association, a 501(c)(3) organization and last year raised $15,000 to benefit Rescue 21.
