Grant cuts jeopardize services

When Becky Burns stepped in front of the Michigan House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military and Veterans Affairs on April 24, she wasn’t just speaking for herself. She was standing up for more than 800 veterans and their families in Alger County — and sounding an alarm over a grant reduction that could have serious consequences for rural veterans across the state.

George A. Kendall

George A. Kendall passed away on April 25, 2025, at age 83. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister (Joan Kendall) and survived by his sisters (Jeanne Kendall, Marilyn Kendall and Carolyn Marcuccio), brother (Tom Kendall), many nieces and nephews and many friends (including lifelong friend Greg Liscinski).
