The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Western and Eastern Upper Peninsula Citizens’ Advisory Councils will conduct a joint meeting at the Delta County Chamber of Commerce multipurpose room, located 1001 N. Lincoln Road in Escanaba from 3 to 5 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Over 350 students from Alger and Marquette County fifth grade classrooms attended Agripalooza, the annual agriculturally- centered education event, on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Michigan State University South Farm in Chatham. The event focuses on providing personal experience with various agricultural and conservation efforts in education.

Tail Spinners Storytime takes place at the library on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.. Pre-school aged children and their caregivers are invited to attend to hear stories, sing songs and make a simple craft. The Munising Mustangs football team led for the majority of their contest with the Indian River-Inland Lakes Bulldogs on Friday, Sept. 22, but a late score and successful two-point conversion led the visitors to the 26-24 victory.

The Michigan State University North Farm in Chatham was hoppin’ with dancing and family fun on Saturday, Sept. 23 for the first Barn Dance, sponsored by Alger County Communities that Care (AC3).

Michigan continued to rank 10th nationally in high school-aged population during the 2022-23 school year and continued to best that ranking in participation in high school sports, according to the annual national participation study conducted by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).

Local snowmobile groups are starting the Fall trail maintenance season. A key time to groom trails to better handle the winter snow load, the maintenance is an important part of the durability of multiuse motorized trail networks in the Upper Peninsula.
