
One of the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s most popular programs, the Scholar-Athlete Award, will again with Farm Bureau Insurance present 32 $2,000 scholarships to top student-athletes at member high schools during the 2023-24 school year.
Welcome home Oaklynn Elizabeth June Tyner! Oaklynn was born happy and healthy on Friday, October 20, 2023 to Britton Tyner and Cristal McGee. Oaklynn was six pounds, three ounces and 19 3/4 inches long at birth. She is the first child for the couple. Congratulations!

The Superior Central Cougars are getting hot at the right time of the year, winning a decisive 3-1 match at Big Bay de Noc on Thursday, Oct. 19.

The Great Lakes Eight conference has selected its players of the year and all-conference awards for the 2023 season, with seven local players recognized by the league with nine awards. Senior Joe Kelley was named first team all-conference for his skills as an offensive and defensive lineman.

For the second year in a row, the Munising boys cross country team has taken third place at the MHSAA U.P. Finals.

Marquette, as expected, retained its D1 title by tying the UPD1 Finals scoring record with 23 points, followed by Houghton with 53 and Sault Ste. Marie with 92.
The Munising Mustangs varsity football team traveled to Eben Junction Saturday, Oct. 21 to take on the Superior Central Cougars in the final game of the season for both teams.

Eve Killips-Holmden, age 68, of Munising and formerly of Lansing, died Friday, September 1, 2023 at Munising Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family and caring hospital staff. She was born on November 1, 1954 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the second of seven children to Robert and Phyllis (Bray) Killips, Sr. Eve’s family moved from the Soo to Lansing and then back to the UP in Munising.
