The Munising Mustangs boys track and field team is the 2023 MHSAA U.P. Division 3 Champions after defeating roughly 30 schools in Kingsford on Saturday, June 3.

Hill helps kick off Financial Literacy Tour

Local State Representative Jenn Hill (D-Marquette) helped kick off a statewide Financial Literary Tour on Friday, June 2. The tour focuses on understanding and growing financial skills like personal financial management, budgeting and investing.

Cougars lead all-district team

The 2023 MHSAA all-District 100 was announced on Tuesday, June 6. Over half of the team came from district champions Superior Central in the team’s first district title in over ten years. All-district team members come from Superior Central, Munising, Rapid River and Newberry.

Girls track takes fourth at finals

It was another strong showing for the Munising Mustangs girls track and field team, as the Mustangs took fourth place at the MHSAA U.P. Division 3 Finals on Saturday, June 3 in Kingsford.

SC track and field ends at finals

The Superior Central track and field teams concluded their seasons at the MHSAA U.P. Division 3 finals on Saturday, June 3 in Kingsford, with the boys team finishing 17th and the girls finishing 16th of the over 30 schools in the field. It was the first time since 2018 that both boys and girls teams scored points at the finals.

MUNISING / FLORIDA - Beth Louise Carl, 65, of Florida and formerly of Munising, died peacefully and unexpectedly at her home on Friday, February 10, 2023. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 2 p.m.

Munising - Ruth Elavsky entered God’s kingdom on September 24, 2022, at the age of 88, with family members holding vigil at her bedside. Internment was held at Munising’s Maple Grove Cemetery on September 27.

Beverly Bowyer

Christmas - Beverly Ann “Annie” Bowyer, 88, of Ridge Road died early Thursday morning, June 1, 2023, at her home. She was born in Eaton Rapids, Mich. to Robert and Alice (Smith) McManus and raised on the family farm. Annie graduated from Eaton Rapids High School. Following high school, she went to work at Michigan Bell as an operator. On May 7, 1955, she married Maurice “Moe” Bowyer and began raising their family.
