MHS tennis team takes sixth at GNC

It was a cold and windy day in Marquette on May 20 for the Great Northern Conference tournament, but the Munising boys tennis team performed well, taking sixth place overall.

Superior Central baseball falls to Bark River-Harris

Three different Superior Central pitchers saw action on the mound in Game 1 against visiting Bark River-Harris on May 20. They weren’t able to slow down the Broncos, however, as SC dropped an 18-9 decision. The Cougars lost a low-scoring Game 2 as well, 3-0.

Golfers compete in league finals

In one of the final matches of the regular season, the Munising golf team competed in the Skyline Conference Championship on May 21 at Young’s Golf Course in Iron River. The Mustang girls placed third overall while the boys had a fifth-place finish.

Residents urged to take action to prevent tick bites

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is encouraging Michigan residents to take steps to avoid tick bites while enjoying the outdoors. Tick-borne diseases, particularly Lyme disease and anaplasmosis, are increasing across the state.

Ordinance set for revisions

The Munising City Commission voted 4-1 on May 19 to direct the city attorney to draft revisions to a decades-old city ordinance after identifying language that likely conflicts with First Amendment protections.
