High school basketball players across Alger County have received postseason recognition from their various conferences in recent weeks.

As ice fishing season winds down, we look forward to another year of warm weather fishing in Michigan. Few would disagree that our state is known for its stream, lake and Great Lakes fisheries. We are proud of an historic activity that provides our citizens with so much enjoyment and is part of the $5.1 billion annual fishing economy of the Great Lakes.
Munising Public Schools has seen substantial growth in mathematics achievement over the past two years.

The Munising High School girls basketball team captured a Division 4 district championship last Friday with a 62-23 home victory over Big Bay de Noc. In the semifinal game one night earlier, the Mustangs knocked off Rapid River, 78-16. Munising’s season, however, came to an end Monday night in Kingsford. In a regional semifinal, the Mustangs fell to Norway, 4541. Munising finishes with a 20-5 record and two trophies. In addition to the district title, the team also captured the Skyline Central Conference championship. See Page 10 for details.
