The Superior Central girls basketball team took part in the Carney- Nadeau holiday tournament on Dec. 27 and 28.

What would you do if you learned about an environmental menace? Then, what if that menace was caused by something loveable and darling? Evidently, most of us do little. This menace kills about 20 Michiganders each year and inflicts at least $400 million of damage.

On Friday, Jan. 3, the Munising High School girls and boys varsity basketball teams earned victories over Brimley High School at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, home of the NBA’s Pistons. See Page 9 for details from the games.
A new year brings the promise of fresh beginnings, but it is also the perfect moment to reflect on the words and phrases that may have worn out their welcome. Lake Superior State University has revealed the 2025 edition of its Banished Words List, a quirky tradition that dates back to 1976, when former LSSU Public Relations Director Bill Rabe and his colleagues delighted word enthusiasts with the first “List of Words Banished from the Queen’s English for Mis-Use, Over-Use and General Uselessness.” Each year, this lighthearted list shines a spotlight on words and terms that are overused, misused or simply unnecessary.
The 31st Annual New Year’s Eve Glow Bowling event was a shining example of community spirit, hosted by the Munising Lions Club in partnership with the Munising Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club of Alger County and Munising’s Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 237, bringing the community together once again to celebrate safely.

The creation of mankind is described in Genesis 1:26-31 and 2:5-7, 21-24 as having happened on the final day of the six literal days of creation. The passage in the first chapter of Genesis gives a brief overview of the process as it did on the other days of creation, including God’s intention to create, his purpose for this creation, God’s act of creation, and his blessing on what he created.
After dropping a pair of games at a tournament over winter break, the Superior Central boys basketball team got back on track last Friday. The Cougars were hosting Engadine in a nonconference contest, and they were able to lead the entire game, resulting in a 5135 victory.
Playing in a professional sports venue, the Munising boys basketball team put up a rather prolific shooting performance. The Mustangs were taking on Brimley last Friday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

Whenever a good basketball team loses a game in which it failed to play up to its standards, the best thing that can happen is another contest as soon as possible. This was the case for the Munising boys last week.
