To the editor: I’m compelled to write today to express my views on the upcoming election for Alger County sheriff. As Alger County prosecutor, I’m proud of the partnership built between my office and law enforcement, including the Alger County Sheriff’s Office.
Playing on its home court for the final time this season, the Superior Central volleyball team was able to pick up a four-set win. The Cougars defeated Big Bay de Noc on Oct. 24 with scores of 1825, 25-23, 26-24 and 25-23.

Winter is approaching, the leaves are losing their color and falling, and Thanksgiving will be here in just a few weeks, opening the way to Advent and Christmas. November is a month when people tend to reflect more on family, friends and material possessions that they cherish because it’s a time when we celebrate being thankful.
Q: I am 65 years old and usually very healthy. Recently, I took my grand-daughter to get our nails done. I hadn’t noticed it, but when it was my turn and I held my hand out to the nail technician, she asked me why my hand was shaking.
When talking about overall health and fitness, there are a few components that are nonnegotiable. Daily movement, exercise and rest are all essential for optimal fitness and longevity, but in differing quantities and for different reasons. Let’s talk about it.
