The Munising football team came just one yard away from pulling off a big-time road win last Friday in Rudyard. Instead, the Mustangs dropped a heartbreaker on the Bulldogs’ home field, as they had a player tackled on the 1-yard line as time expired, resulting in a 29-28 defeat in the Great Lakes Eight Conference East Division.

The Munising girls volleyball team won the first two sets and nearly pulled off a road victory at Ishpeming on Oct. 7.

Under a sun-drenched sky at the Dale Fountain cross country course in Banat, the Munising Mustang cross country teams competed at the Skyline Conference championships on Thursday, Oct. 10. Unfortunately for the Mustangs, the injury bug jumped up and bit both the boys and girls teams. The result was that injuries cost both teams the chance to win conference titles.

The Munising Baptist soccer team had its sights set on winning the Northern Lights League tournament on Saturday. The Bobcats reached the championship game, but they ran out of steam after a playing through a busy day, falling to tournament host Hannahville, 4-0.

Munising’s student body centered the 2024 Homecoming theme around books. Students kicked off the festivities “sleeping” through Monday by wearing pajamas in honor of Sleeping Beauty.

Munising Memorial Hospital (MMH) has announced the appointment of Dr. Mark Cecilio as the new Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Cecilio steps into this leadership role after a decade of dedicated service at MMH, where he has worked as an Emergency Medicine physician since 2014. His new responsibilities will involve overseeing the hospital’s medical staff, directing quality and infection control efforts, and building upon the existing clinical framework in collaboration with local health systems.
