The Superior Central volleyball team competed in their first Central Upper Peninsula Conference match of the season on Tuesday, September 3. The Lady Cougars were down at Stephenson, where they came up short in three sets, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-16.

The Superior Central cross country team saw action at the Gwinn Invitational on Tuesday, September 3. The Cougars were able to get their boys’ team to come in fifth place, while the girls’ squad had a second place finish.

Before the high school football season even started, Munising head coach Matt Mattson felt like their week two home contest with Lake Linden-Hubbell would be a good early season measuring stick for his team. The Lakes were a semi-final team in last year’s Division 2 8-player playoffs and annually churn out competitive teams; but Mattson and the Mustangs got the better of them in this match-up, 48-22.
So far so good for the Munising Baptist soccer team this season. The Bobcats were taking part in a Northern Lights League game at Grand Marais on Thursday, September 5 and came away with a 5-0 win, keeping their early season record undefeated.
They were both losses, but the Munising Baptist volleyball team really got better as the night went on Monday. They were playing two games over at the Maplewood JV team, dropping both.

The Munising Bay Cruisers are set to host their 14th annual Classic Car Show, a much-anticipated event that draws car enthusiasts from across Michigan, Wisconsin, Canada, and even as far as Nevada. From September 19 to 21, this three-day celebration will showcase classic cars, foster community spirit, and pay heartfelt tributes to veterans.

The Munising Baptist soccer team had a busy start to the season last week. Fortunately for the Bobcats it was a successful week as well, as they managed to win three games in the span of just four days. Most recently they topped visiting Mackinac Island, 3-2 on Thursday, August 29.

Set on the south shore of beautiful Lake Superior, the quaint town of Grand Marais is the eastern gateway to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and is a wonderful place for a weekend getaway or even a weeklong vacation.
