Michigan Department of Natural Resources Anglers can look forward to great fall fishing, due to successful spring and summer fish stocking by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The DNR stocked a total of 9,118,112 fish that weighed nearly 321 tons and consisted of 10 different species and one hybrid.

In a special board meeting held July 30, 2024 the Munising Public Schools Board of Education voted to approve the selection of Shannon DeFrancesco as the new Principal of William G. Mather Elementary School and Director of State and Federal Programs for the district.
Kenneth G. Garrett, age 79, of Munising died Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at UPHS – Marquette following a brief illness.

During its annual Sunset Cruise Fundraiser held on July 29th, the Rotary Club of Munising proudly announced a donation of $5,198 to the Munising Public School’s Natural Resources class. The Rotary District 6220 (Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula) has generously matched this amount, bringing the total funds raised to $10,396.

The Chatham Lions Club hosted their annual Run with the Cows 5K race on Saturday. With 142 participants registered for the event it was once again deemed a success.

Finn Fun Day #14: Celebrate Finnish Culture on August 24th Join us for Finn Fun Day #14 on Saturday, August 24th, from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Negaunee Township Hall, 42 State Hwy M35.
