Dear Editor: At what point does a person gain his rights? At what point in life does a baby receive the right to live? There should be just one answer, but because of society’s thinking and way of life, those questions may not have an answer. Because of Roe vs. Wade, a baby starts a battle right from conception. Depending on the baby’s mother, the baby will either be the safest it will ever be, in the womb, or the baby’s life will be at risk and its life outside the womb won’t be promised. Because of abortion, a baby loses its life if its mother chooses, and there is no consequence for doing so.

Dear Editor, Should Capital punishment be abolished in all states? Capital Punishment (the death penalty) was abolished in Michigan in 1846, but it is still carried out today in twenty-seven out of the fifty states. There are several issues with carrying out capital punishment and reasons why other states should abolish it.

Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy In September 2023, Michigan launched a $5 million program offering no-cost water testing kits to private well owners, highlighting the importance of routine testing for ensuring the quality of drinking water. The initiative received an overwhelming response, with over 15,000 well owners requesting kits within just one week, quickly exhausting the initial funding.
