Hiawatha Forest’s Thompson named MUCC Conservationist of the Year
US Forest Service Terrestrial Ecologist Paul Thompson (right) was recently awarded the Michigan United Conservation Clubs’ (MUCC) Forest & Park Conservationist of the Year award. Thompson was nominated by the Straits Area Sportsmen’s Club for his work across both the east and west units of Hiawatha National Forest.

After an award-winning idea, a Burt Township teacher is finding a way to involve the Grand Marais community in the 4-6 grade classroom. Amy Ross, the 4-6 grade teacher at Burt Township Schools, is asking for some of the area’s most favorite recipes.

Eden Lutheran worships on Saturdays at 5pm, and on Sundays at 1030am, followed by coffee fellowship. Eden offers “open communion” at the Lord’s table, where all are welcome.

Munising School Public Library notes
We are thrilled to once again be hosting the Hometown Art Show here at the library! One student artwork was chosen for each grade to be professionally framed and put on display in a local business for one year. Come check out the artworks before they head out into the community on Wednesday, May 10 from 5:30-7:00pm. All are welcome to attend this free admission event to honor our local student artists.
