On Tuesday, April 18th, Superior Central School held their kickoff meeting to revitalize the PTO. Throughout COVID the PTO struggled to gain traction, so a group of parents came together to give it a fresh start. The group intended to use the meeting to share the goals and mission of the PTO in order to recruit new members but the parents that showed up were ready to get to work and planning began. Many ideas were shared and the first few were chosen and put into action to get the PTO off the ground again.

There was an electric feel at Munising Middle/High School on Wednesday, April 19. There were also feelings of robotics, physics, body systems and astronomy for the 2023 STEM Science Fair. Over 100 exhibits of science, health and technology were spread out across the school with over 400 people attending and taking part of the event.

She was presented with the Bay College Board of Trustee’s Elite Scholarship, which covers full tuition and fees as well as course-required text books for the first and second semesters at Bay with an option for a second year if required criteria is maintained. The scholarship is given to just three incoming students and requires a 3.8 cumulative GPA from one of the areas in the Bay College service area of West Alger, West Schoolcraft, Delta and Dickinson Counties.
As travel bureaucrats and industry members gather in Grand Rapids for another “Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference On Tourism,” they are keeping a big secret from you. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, which administers the state’s taxpayer- funded tourism promotion program, works to keep key data involving state tourism away from those who might question Pure Michigan’s effectiveness.
Tale Spinners Storytime will be themed “April showers bring May flowers” on Monday, Apr. 24 at 10:30am. Pre-school aged children and their caregivers are invited to attend to hear stories, sing songs and make a simple craft. This 30 minute activity is for ages 7 and under.
In the recent discussion of the Alger County Commission Resolutions 2023-07 (which have no legal binding), a point was made that mental health was a factor in most of the gun assaults and killings around the country.

Bowerman is part of the 100 win club and twice qualified for the MHSAA Individual State Wresting Finals. A multisport athlete, he is the fourth student athlete from Munising and fifth from Alger County to officially move on to compete at the collegiate level, but the first outside of football. The Muskies are a NCAA Division III school. Multiple family members of Bowerman have graduated and competed for Lakeland. He plans on studying computer science.

After a solid 2022-23 competitive cheer season, the Munising Mustangs have more to celebrate as the All District and All Region teams have been announced. Receiving the highest accolade was Hayden Graves, who made the All Region Second Team.
